Businessman kidnapped in the Philippines
A CorporateCare member contacted us saying that her husband had been kidnapped during a business trip to the Philippines and she needed somebody to negotiate for his safe release.
Given the gravity of the situation we immediately escalated the incident to the red24 Senior Alert Manager and monitored developments as and when they happened. We established from the member that she had received a phone call reporting her husbands' kidnap and the captors had demanded a significant amount of money for his release. They had stated she mustn't contact the Police or her husband would be killed, so she contacted red24 for help.
We assured her we would do everything we could to secure the safe release of her husband and advised her of some immediate steps to take. We asked her to try to remain calm when the kidnappers phoned her and if possible ask to speak to her husband. We emphasised the need for open communication with the kidnappers and stated she must not get angry, contradict them or agree to any settlement. We also advised she introduce a delay to proceedings by informing the kidnappers it would take some time to raise the money for her husbands release.
red24's CRM immediately contacted and deployed a suitable consultant to negotiate the ransom and organised our members flight to the region. After 4 weeks of negotiation the captors released our members husband unharmed. Included as part of the red24alert service, the couple incurred no extra cost for this rescue operation and were grateful for the emotional and physical support provided by red24 during their extremely difficult ordeal.
