- When travelling internationally carry a passport even if you
don't need one. It's the best form of ID.
- Scan all your important documents when at work and keep an electronic
copy on your intranet. If you lose your paperwork, you can log
on and print extra copies.
- Make two photocopies of the data page of your passport and leave
one with family and keep the other with you, separately from your
passport.
- If you lose your passport, contact your nearest embassy and
the local police as soon as possible.
- Be sure to check your passport's expiry date as some countries
won't allow you to enter on a passport with an expiry date
of less than six months.
- Some countries require visas: check before you leave. These
can be gained from the embassy of the country you wish to travel.
It can be a lengthy process and you will need to send your passport
so allow plenty of time.
- Visas can also be gained on arrival at your destination airport
(but are not guaranteed from here).
- If you intend driving abroad you will need your driving licence
and for some countries an international driving licence.
- You may need vaccination certificates for entry into some countries.
