- Don't leave home without it!
- Buy a comprehensive policy that includes coverage for trip cancellation
and interruption, default, trip delay, and medical expenses will
cover most things.
- Read the small print, make sure it covers all planned activities,
the countries you are travelling to, the length of time you intend
to spend in each country and pre-existing medical conditions.
Check the no-claim and most importantly the price.
- Always buy travel insurance directly from an insurance company
or agent. If you buy indirect and that company goes out of business,
you will probably not be covered.
- Before purchasing check your existing insurance policies to
find out whether they cover expenses incurred while travelling.
- Year-long policies can often be the cheapest.
- If you plan to do any super adventurous activities, research
specialist insurers.
