Don't overpack!

Planning what you will need to pack for a number of weeks, months or years is a daunting prospect.

We at Planet Wise certainly live by the old adage that less is more! Non-essential clothes and equipment will start to feel pretty heavy once you realise that you have to carry it all around on your back! All our tutors have at one time or another found themselves dumping unnecessary bits and pieces just a short way into a long trip.

This part of the course will almost certainly save you space in your rucksack as well as time and money.

Before you go shopping for goodies, consider…

• What to definitely pack, what to leave behind.
  
• The importances of testing out your gear before you go.
  
• Will your shiny new rucksack stand out like a sore thumb, and will this make you appear vulnerable?
  
• The right equipment for the climates, terrains and altitudes you will be encountering - from jungles to mountains and from deserts to cities.
  
• The dos and don'ts of electronic equipment.
