Don't overpack! |
Using an imaginary trip which you help to plan we build together a comprehensive kit list and strategy for carrying it all. Part of the session allows you to try our gear and make decisions about your own needs.
"We had great fun with the packing exercise - everyone had different ideas about what to take. I think we came to the conclusion that compromise is key - you can't carry everything for a year-long trip"
Andy Simpson
The prospect of packing for your adventure be it, weeks, months
or years is probably a daunting prospect.
Ask yourself...
- Should I take a travel pack, backpack or suitcase?
- Do I need shoes, boots, trainers or flip-flops?
- How do I compromise between a beach holiday and trekking?
- Should I take a water filter?
- How much can I sensibly carry?
- Do I need a sleeping bag?
- Is there a 'proper' way of getting everything in my pack in
without trashing it all?
- Can I realistically pack for six months or a year?
- How can I protect it all once it's in the bag?
Pack it all in then halve it |
How do we pack for 8 of us? |
We've even developed a simple programme called the Planet Wise
Kit List Generator. It generates a kit list, which can be tailored
specifically to your needs. Come on the course and we'll go through
it with you answering any questions or burning issues you may have.
So before parting with any of your hard earned cash, consider.
- The importance of testing out your gear before you go.
- Will your shiny new rucksack stand out like a sore thumb, and
will this make you appear vulnerable?
- The right equipment for the climates, terrains and altitudes
you will be encountering - from jungles to mountains and from
deserts to cities.
- The dos and don'ts of electronic equipment.
