Documents

  • When travelling internationally carry a passport even if you don't need one. It's the best form of ID.
  • Make two photocopies of the data page of your passport and leave one with family and keep the other with you, separately from your passport.
  • If you lose your passport, contact you're nearest embassy and the local police as soon as possible.
  • Be sure to check your passport's expiration date as some countries won't allow you to enter on a passport with an expiration date of less than six months.
  • Some countries require visas: check before you leave. These can be gained from the embassy of the country you wish to travel. It can be a lengthy process and you will need to send your passport so allow plenty of time.
  • Visas can also be gained on arrival at your destination airport (but are not guaranteed from here).
  • If you intend on driving you will need your driving licence and for some countries an international driving licence.
  • You may need vaccination certificates for entry into some countries. (e.g. Yellow Fever for Africa)
  • Keep passports in a money belt when travelling along with all other important documents. As well as keeping copies separately.
  • Scan any documents and email them to yourself on a hotmail account.
