Before you leave, start your travels healthy:
- A dental check-up is advisable prior to travel, safe guarding
against surprise problems, which may be difficult to treat whilst
traveling.
- If you are on any regular medication make ensure you have sufficient
quantities as well as a replacement prescription in case of loss.
(Know the generic name of your medication as the brand name may
be country specific)
- If you wear glasses/contacts travel with spares and your prescription
to allow replacement should it be necessary.
- It is also worth checking the medical facilities of any country
you are visiting.
- A comprehensive travel-insurance policy covering medical problems
is a wise idea. Ensure your policy covers ambulances and emergency
flights home.
- If travelling in Europe fill out an E111 form as it helps with
medical bills in many countries.
- Carry a small medical Kit with all the things that you feel
you need, standard packs can be bought anywhere and easily modified.
- Consider bringing a sterile medic-pack containing your own needles and swabs.
