- Make sure your shoes are comfortable before you start
- Firm up your feet before you start
- If you know that you have soft feet, protect them before, not
after the blisters arrive
- The fitter you are before your trip the more you will enjoy
it.
- Train with a backpack before you travel
- Wear suitable clothing when trekking, not jeans!
- When trekking at altitude, 'climb high: sleep low', it is the
golden rule for acclimatisation.
- Take good maps and know how to use them
- Make sure you apply for any permits if they are needed
- Drink lots of water
- Take a water filter with you
- Wear strong sun-cream when trekking at altitude
- Don't forget your sunglasses
