As a red24alert member, the red24 helpdesk is available you you 24-hours a day to deal with any travel emergency anywhere in the world.
Once contacted the team assesses each situation individually. A consultant is deployed, if necessary, to provide you with on-the-ground assistance. A £100,000 emergency management fund is also available to meet the cost of removal to a safe haven, including additional expenses such as air charter/travel, accommodation o interpreters.
The red24alert service provides members, employers and their families with the peace of mind that potential risks are being minimised and that withdrawal from a potentially life threatening situation is available.
Case Study
In a recent example, a red24alert member's wife phoned to report that her husband had just been the victim of a so-called "express kidnapping" in Mexico City. Two assailants had violently forced him out of his hire car, and took him to an ATM machine to withdraw more than US$3,000. He was then forced to hand over the car keys and set free. The kidnappers said, on his release, that if he went to the authorities they would kill him.
Before doing anything, the member wanted to phone red24alert and seek advice and support. red24 arranged for a consultant to be dispatched to Mexico City to assist the client, assess his situation and respond accordingly. The consultant, who arrived within 24 hours, helped the couple report the crime to the local police and liaise with the client's insurance company. He also was able to give practical advice concerning the cancellation of credit cards, and, most importantly, advising them how to reduce the risk of any further security incidents for the duration of their stay in Mexico. Given their predicament, the consultant stayed with them until the following day, when he took them to the airport for them to fly back to their home country.
